"Being a single parent is a big job. You are a provider, a nurturer, and your child’s main support system. You don’t get the luxury of a partner to help with the kids or take care of your children so you can have some “me time”.
Single Mom Strong, Inc’s founder, Tara Taylor, understood the struggle and created a nonprofit to support women going through single parenthood. As Tara always says “it takes a village”! This organization has been a blessing to my family. I am proud to be involved with a nonprofit that empowers and encourages women. Single mom life is so much easier with good friends and a great support system..."

Single Mom Strong's mission is to empower single mothers and their children through enrichment, encouragement and educational programs.

It takes a village to raise a child, and for single mothers, we are that village.

Tara Taylor

As a career woman and parent, Tara worked hard to give her daughter all of the opportunities every child deserves, along with the support of a caring, loving extended family “community”. It was through this experience that the concept of Single Mom Strong™ was born.

This is NOT your typical career fair!  You'll explore your options in the safe, friendly SMS environment you know and love.  Lunch is included and, as with all of our programs, on-site childcare is always available.  Plus, we will talk with WOMEN in the industry, asking REAL questions about what it is like to work in their field, how they balance work and family, their experience with career advancement in the industry, etc.

In March, we’re talking about manufacturing with the California Mobility Center. Manufacturing brings technology & design to life!  This industry isn't all heavy lifting and dirty finger nails. Manufacturing offers a variety of careers in safe, clean and tech oriented environments. Think: high wage jobs that don't require college degrees.

empowerMe preschool& childcare

EmpowerME Pre-school & Childcare programs make quality early childhood education accessible to all young children by making preschool affordable, even on a single income budget.  The same level of quality and affordability is extended to serve school-age children on all days schools are closed. The values-based curriculum, home-like environment and culturally responsive programming at EmpowerME encourage self-expression and emphasize social-emotional development.

By arranging spaces to maximize learning and minimize distractions with materials that are engaging and age appropriate, each Preschool and Pre-K classroom provides opportunities for learning through play, investigation and peer interactions, an environment that research has shown to promote early learning and development.  EmpowerME’s Preschool and Pre-K Programs support children’s readiness for school by using California Preschool Learning Foundations as our tool for measuring educational attainment.   We are currently offering year-round Preschool  and Program, and a Pre-K/Kinder Program in our Empowerment Center in Citrus Heights and our Expansion Site on Arden Way in Sacramento.  Full day childcare for school-aged children is available during Spring, Summer and Winter breaks and all other days school is closed.
